Plumb Architecture LLC expanded services to include Chattanooga, Tennessee in the summer of 2019. This is our “home office”, allowing for direct contact with the design and project teams – AND our clients. There is a bit of magic that comes with everyone sitting around the same table to discuss the intricate details of a specific project. Everyone brings their years of experience and expertise to that metaphorical table. An idea can bounce around between various team members as they add their two pennies to the exploration of a new idea or solution. The idea transforms from a clunky shapeless thing into a polished and honed form. In this collaborative design process, the design solution is crafted by the entire team.
With that said, we’ve made leaps and bounds in figuring out how to stay connected through digital platforms. Several of our clients live out of state, but we are able to leverage video meetings, phone calls, and online model viewing platforms to continue with a dynamic and energetic project collaboration.
We are currently licensed in Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas. We hold a current certificate with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) which allows us to procure additional architectural licenses in additional states through a process called comity.
Architect (Tennessee 106778, Texas 20054, Georgia RA015910)
Registered Interior Designer (Texas 10973)
However, not all project types require an architect’s license. If you are out of state but are still interested in working with Plumb Architecture, we may work as a design consultant or residential designer if it is deemed that reciprocity in your specific state is an unnecessary hurdle.
Currently accepting all project types. We offer boutique services with bespoke designs as well as stock plans for shovel ready projects. We tailor our scope of services to find a package that is affordable for you and your family.

Our city is growing fast. We strive to be part of the solution in designing sustainable homes and businesses. Like others that have made Chattanooga their home in recent years, we are leaving behind high costs of living, traffic, congestion, and sprawling growth. Our volunteer work and professional service complements our professional vision. We want to help this city grow well – and this means to grow with greater density, equitable access to nature, to clean air, to fresh water, to good schools, to healthy food, and to affordable housing.

One can feel the palpable energy in the mountains, rivers, creeks, and waterfalls around us. Here we sit on the most southern point of the Appalachian Mountains, in a region that was spared by glaciers in previous Ice Ages. The plants and the geology date back millennia. And. Mother Nature has crafted intricate solutions to things our human engineering has no equal.
Here there is a hard juxtaposition between industry and nature. The land has been scratched and wasted upon, leaving scars that are slow to heal. Forests have been completely felled. The soil washed away because there were no roots to hold it, no plants to soak in the water. 1969 marked the height of unregulated industry leaving Chattanooga ranked as the dirtiest city in America.
We have hope that we (as in the collective whole) have learned from these mistakes. Forests are regenerating through careful and thoughtful stewardship. Our air is clear and crisp (excluding the stifling humidity in the middle of summer!). Nature is healing herself.
It is this deep love for place that makes Plumb Architecture stewards for the land around us. We are in awe of the inherent patterns of nature. We believe humans can exist in nature without destruction and disregard of the world around us. Nature inspires us. Nature feeds our soul. We seek to emulate Mother Nature in all her years of evolving to a perfectly honed solution.
